The rain started falling hard just after crossing Guanella Pass. Lots of wet bikers and Jeep owners to be seen. We met a few bikers in the cafe while enjoying some hot tasty food and waiting for the rain and traffic to die down. Part of the afternoon enjoyment included a Jeep owner fighting to get the top back on before the water got any deeper. Soaked from head to toe when done, he was too late to join us as the cafe closed at 3 pm. Drinks and a restroom break were offered if needed which you could tell was much appreciated. With all the traffic from Guanella Pass, most of the food was gone anyway.
I caught one of the cooks coming outside to pull the flag down. I asked if the traffic and full restaurant were the norms. He said due to the weather, no Broncos game, and aspen changing color the weekend had been extra busy. He also said the aspen were more vibrant this year due to a mild fall so far. We thanked him for our dinner which was very tasty. We had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on ciabatta bread. The riding companion said it was the best breakfast sandwich he had ever had.
