Austin has skied 54 of the 58 Colorado 14ers. Over the years his father has taught him about mountaineering and it was time to show him what he had learned. The torch was officially passed on during one of their most recent ascents when Austin took lead. We look forward to following his many future adventures as he attempts to ski the last 4 of the 58 14ers in Colorado.

It was my turn to show him what I had learned from him over the years and years we had been climbing together. So off I went leading the climb. It was such an honor but the pressure was on. My dad has always pushed me in the mountains and even though I could never imagine accomplishing the things he's done in the mountains I will always try to honor his climbing legacy by dedicating my life to the mountains just as he has! ~ Austin Porzak

Growing up, Austin traveled the world with his father, constantly in search of the next big adventure. His travels took him to Mt. Makalu and Mt. Everest where he became the youngest American to traverse these two 100+ mile treks. The early exposure to the mountains and the corresponding lifestyle, peaked his interest in the outdoors and has led him to creating his own mountain oriented lifestyle. Since then, Austin has successfully skied 54 of the 58 14,000 foot peaks in Colorado, and plans to ski the remaining four this season. In addition to his vast ski accomplishments, Austin has successfully climbed Mt. McKinley, Khan Tengri, Zinalrothorn, Matterhorn, Cotopaxi, Cayambe, the entire Snowy Mountain range in Australia, and hundreds of other technical mixed alpine ski/climbs. ~ albrittonskis.com

Zinalrothorn This photo means the world to me. If you look at the bottom you can see my pops and I climbing. My dad would always lead the climb and protect me but on this day he passed the torch to me. We started climbing up a glacier at midnight and reached the 1st pitch at 3am. The entire route was covered in verglas so we climbed in crampons and raced the weather which rolled in and out. Climbing with my dad is amazing because his stories are on another level and he opens up while climbing. I believe doing dangerous things with someone builds the deepest connections. It builds trust along with many other things and eventually if you do it enough you connect on a subconscious level where you can communicate without speaking. For those of you that climb you know what I'm talking about. We bonded on a whole different level that day. I would just look at him when I was placing gear etc and he didn't even need to nod his head or speak to me, I just knew what he was thinking and by looking at him it would answer my questions. On this day we took our climbing to a level of efficiency I had never seen or felt before. It was fast but safe and truly no time was lost. Meanwhile, I kept looking in the distance at the #Matterhorn knowing that this climb was just a prep for that. I was thinking oh shit if this climb is this hard I can't imagine what the Matterhorn is like and am I worthy of it?! Eventually we reached the summit! I believe this climb was my true introduction to #alpinism and a week later I climbed the Matterhorn 🙂 Thank you dad! #TheAlps #Zinalrothorn #TBT #LoveOfPhotos
